Overview
Though everything about this all-electric Hyundai—from its rakish and aerodynamic design to its EPA-estimated 361 miles of maximum range—is worthy of respect, it is dubbed the Ioniq 6 but you might argue for naming it the Iconic 6. Beyond that, it keeps its price tag reasonable and includes plenty of functionality. Given both the Ioniq 6 in 2023 and the Ioniq 5 in 2022 are prior winners of our EV of the Year award, it should not be surprising that both have many elements in common with their Ioniq 5 SUV sister. The Ioniq 6 sedan blazes its own stylish road at the price of a short cargo compartment and restricted back headroom, despite minor family resemblance. Available in rear- or all-wheel drive configurations, the Ioniq 6 has a choice of two differently sized batteries. Combining the big battery with a single-motor, rear-wheel drive arrangement generates the combination that gets the headlines with an EPA-estimated range of 361-mile. Though our actual results fell a little short of that measure, the Ioniq 6 nevertheless strikes the golden spot where range, performance, charging speeds, and price cross-over converge; consider the current stylistic interpretation as a plus.
What's New for 2025?
The Digital Green paint option has been eliminated and the Ioniq 6's Limited trim now features a head-up display.
Cost and Choice of Purchase
Starting at $38,900, the price of the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6 rises based on trim and extras to $52,150.
With the greatest range estimate of any model in the lineup and more horsepower than the standard Standard Range vehicle, we believe the rear-wheel-drive SE Long Range single-motor configuration is the best value. The larger battery pack comes exclusively with the SEL and Limited trim levels; available is a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system.
EV Motor, Performance, and Power
The Ioniq 6 shares its base with the Ioniq 5 SUV and its engine essentially reflects that of that vehicle. The basic 6 has a single electric motor running the back wheels and generates 149 horsepower. Long-range battery pack fitted single-motor automobiles have 225 horsepower. Thanks to front and rear electric motors, the more costly 320-hp dual-motor models offer all-wheel drive and come just with a larger battery. The Ioniq 6 has lots of interesting handling even if its interior is well-isolated and silent and its ride is pleasant. Its low center of gravity gives it a grounded feel in turns; its steering-wheel paddles let the driver choose many types of regenerative braking on demand.ﻼ
0–60 MPH Times
We have therefore tested the AWD Long Range, which was far faster at 4.3 seconds to 60. and the RWD Long Range, which hit 60 mph in 6.2 seconds.
Range, charging, and battery life
Estimating a maximum range of 361 miles in the 2025 Ioniq 6 Long Range RWD, the EPA notes a 58-mile advantage over the longest-range Ioniq 5. Still an amazing performance for the model with the shortest range, the Ioniq 6 Standard Range RWD runs 240 miles. In our 75-mph real-world highway range test, the Long Range RWD variant scored 260 miles of range—100 miles under its EPA rating. A 75-mph highway range of 220 miles in our tests brought the AWD model closer to its EPA rating in the real world.
Fuel Efficiency and Practical MPGe
The EPA rates the rear-drive Ioniq 6 SE Long Range at 140 MPGe overall. See the EPA's website for further details on the Ioniq 6's fuel efficiency. You may also read this: Exciting Italian Concept Cars
Inside, Comfort, And Cargo
Hyundai's Ioniq models so far have stressed lounge-like comfort, and the 6 is no different. The cabin's equally sleek and understated look matches the Ioniq 5, and its level floor accentuates internal space. Offering room for five across two rows of seats, it is a traditional four-door sedan. Hyundai has gone to considerable care to guarantee a peaceful interior; multiple layers of sound-deadening material are layered between the floor and the carpeting. Though the rear seats fold to create more space back there, the cargo capacity within the trunk might not be as large as a hatchback or crossover.
Entertainment and Networkability
There is a 12.3-inch infotainment screen as well as a digital gauge cluster. The Ioniq 6 runs the same software as previous Hyundai vehicles, which interface with cellphones via either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and feature BlueLink for connectivity purposes.
Safety and Features for Driver Assistance
Hyundai supplies our version with all kinds of driver-assistance tech to offset the lack of snazzy camera-based outside mirrors of the Ioniq 6 that is set for sale in the United States.
