Safety Innovations in the 2025 Honda CR-V

Overview

Compact crossovers like as the 2025 Honda CR-V are in high demand, since they provide comfortable seating, reasonable fuel efficiency, and an easy-to-park profile. Honda's joyful entrance in this competitive SUV market wins its spot at the top of our list since it also delivers nimble handling to compliment its utility. Equipped with front- or all-wheel drive and a 190-hp turbocharged engine, the nonhybrid CR-V is decently powerful; we evaluate the 204-hp hybrid version separately. While the Mazda CX-50 provides more luxury and the Ford Bronco Sport is more adept off-road, the CR-V is a superior all-arounder for its pleasant driving characteristics, strong build quality, and just-right mix of infotainment knobs and screens. For these reasons and more, we nominated the CR-V to our 10Best Trucks list for 2025.

What's New for 2025?

There are no revisions to the Honda CR-V for 2025, and in this instance, no news is good news.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

2025 Honda CR-V

The pricing of the 2025 Honda CR-V starts at $31,495 and goes up to $36,395 depending on the model and options.

The CR-V LX, EX, and EX-L are all gas-only variants. The Sport, Sport-L, and Sport Touring versions come entirely with the hybrid engine, and they are what we'd suggest most. Of the nonhybrid variants, we'd recommend the EX-L for its wide list of equipment. It comes with leather upholstery, a motorized tailgate, and a bigger touchscreen, among other things.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

Behind the CR-V's vertical grille is a standard 190-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder. It couples with a CVT and either front- or all-wheel drive. This arrangement is standard on the LX, EX, and EX-L versions. Every CR-V includes hill-descent control that helps moderate the tiny SUV's speed on steep or slippery drops when going at low speeds. Most variants are furnished with a set of 18-inch wheels. While it misses the handling thrills we adore in the Mazda CX-50 and the Volkswagen Tiguan, the new CR-V gives a comfortable ride and enough moxie to avoid being boring.

0–60-MPH Times

At our test track, the nonhybrid EX-L required 8.1 seconds to get to 60 mph, making it a tad sluggish for its class and a few ticks slower than the hybrid variant. The gearbox also causes the engine to drone audibly under strong acceleration.

Towing and Payload Capacity

The Honda CR-V can tow up to 1500 pounds when fitted with optional towing attachments.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

The CR-V's nonhybrid engine delivers competitive fuel efficiency. The front-wheel-drive CR-V with the turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder receives EPA ratings of 28 mpg city and 34 mpg highway, and selecting for all-wheel drive decreases those figures a touch. On our real-world 75-mph highway fuel efficiency route, an all-wheel-drive EX-L scored 31 mpg. For more information about the CR-V's fuel economy, see the EPA's website.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

2025 Honda CR-V

The CR-V's beautiful interior design is accented by a honeycomb-textured inlay spanning much of the dash, cleverly disguising the air vents. The steering wheel frames a partly digital gauge cluster with an analog speedometer and a 7.0-inch display that allows the driver to change between several informative menus. Honda claims the front seats are meant to lessen driver fatigue on lengthy trips and that the new CR-V's driving posture has been enhanced. Between the front-seat occupants is a spacious center console bin, and behind them are reclining back seats with an increased 0.6 inch of rear legroom compared with the previous CR-V. There are 39 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row with the movable load floor in its lowest configuration.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The CR-V's infotainment system runs through a 7.0-inch touchscreen on the LX and EX model levels. The arrangement has physical volume and tuning knobs as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The EX-L includes a 9.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. While the larger display doesn't have a tuning knob, there is a volume dial that complements the built-in navigation, plus two USB-C connections for rear-seat passengers and wireless smartphone charging.
