Combining the big battery with a single-motor, rear-wheel drive arrangement generates the combination that gets the headlines with an EPA-estimated range of 361-mile. Though our actual results fell a little short of that measure, the Ioniq 6 nevertheless strikes the golden spot where range, performance, charging speeds, and price cross-over converge; consider the current stylistic interpretation as a plus.

With the greatest range estimate of any model in the lineup and more horsepower than the standard Standard Range vehicle, we believe the rear-wheel-drive SE Long Range single-motor configuration is the best value. The larger battery pack comes exclusively with the SEL and Limited trim levels; available is a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system.

Electric Motor, Power, and Performance

The Ioniq 6 shares its base with the Ioniq 5 SUV and its engine essentially reflects that of that vehicle. The basic 6 has a single electric motor running the back wheels and generates 149 horsepower. Long-range battery pack fitted single-motor automobiles have 225 horsepower. Thanks to front and rear electric motors, the more costly 320-hp dual-motor models offer all-wheel drive and come just with a larger battery. The Ioniq 6 has lots of interesting handling even if its interior is well-isolated and silent and its ride is pleasant. In our 75-mph real-world highway range test, the Long Range RWD variant scored 260 miles of range—100 miles under its EPA rating. Inside, Comfort, and Cargo

Hyundai's Ioniq models so far have stressed lounge-like comfort, and the 6 is no different. The cabin's equally sleek and understated look matches the Ioniq 5, and its level floor accentuates internal space. Offering room for five across two rows of seats, it is a traditional four-door sedan.
