Overview
Rising from Lexus's SUV range comes the new 2025 LX700h hybrid, a dual-purpose machine competent of posh urban cruising as well as mud-slinging backcountry romping. Almost everything else about the LX700h, including twin-turbo V-6, is stolen from the nonhybrid LX600 (reviewed separately); an electric motor is added to mix for a combined horsepower rating of 457 ponies. The remaining running gear, including a 10-speed automatic and a four-wheel drive system with a locking center differential, is like the LX600. An Overtrail trim adds skid plates, all-terrain tires, front and rear locking differentials—for a total of three—should you want to take your six-figure Lexus SUV on overlanding excursions. The LX700h should provide the same pleasant ride on road as the nonhybrid LX600. All variants are loaded with luxurious furnishings, comfy seats, and accommodation for up to seven across three rows as the inside of the 700h is exactly like the 600's in layout and features.
2025: What Is New?
New for the Lexus range this year, the LX700h marks the first time a hybrid variant of the brand's flagship SUV has ever been available. An off-road focused Overtrail trim is specific to the LX700h and boasts considerably greater terrain-conquering prowess than the nonhybrid LX600 variant.
Pricing And Which One To Buy
The pricing of the 2025 Lexus LX Hybrid is estimated to start around $110,000 and go up to $135,000 depending on the specification and extras.
Unless you’re aiming to utilize the LX700h as an overlanding vehicle, we’d recommend bypassing the tough Overtrail. Instead, the mid-range Luxury trim should fit most people’s demands. It includes amenities like as semi-aniline leather interior, a Mark Levinson sound system, and attractive 22-inch wheels among other things.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The LX700h is powered by the same twin-turbo 3.4-liter V-6 as the nonhybrid LX600 but it’s buttressed by an electric motor that pumps in an additional 48 more horsepower, for a total of 457 horsepower. A 10-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system are both standard. The electric motor can operate the LX700h at low speeds without turning on the V-6, which is supposed to be advantageous in low-range off-roading when fine throttle control is necessary. Speaking of off-road, the LX700h comes with lots of gear for such adventures, including a locking center differential, an adjustable air-spring suspension system, a Crawl Control option, and more. The Overtrail model is the most competent though, and incorporates locking front, rear, and center differentials. A pair of 18-inch wheels with 33-inch all-terrain tires is also standard on the Overtrail, and Lexus has equipped that grade with a front skid plate and a 2400-watt AC inverter which off-grid campers will find beneficial as it converts the LX into a power source while overlanding far from home.
Towing and Payload Capacity
Like the LX600, the hybrid LX700h can pull a trailer weighing up to 8000 pounds.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
Inside, the LX radiates luxury, starting with a spacious center console between the front seats that provides a snug cockpit setting. Quilted leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped dashboard, wood trim, and smoked-chrome accents endow the cabin with a luxury air. The front thrones score high ratings for comfort and may be specified with a massage feature. Most trims offer three rows of seats and space for seven riders, but the top-spec Ultra Luxury model is more for the chauffeured set with a four-seat layout that eliminates the third row and features dual reclining captain's chairs in the second row divided by a center console, plus rear-seat entertainment displays and wireless smartphone charging capability. The Overtrail trim can be obtained with or without the third row.

Infotainment and Connectivity
The LX's dashboard comes with three standard displays: an 8.0-inch screen for the gauge cluster, a 12.3-incher for the infotainment, and a separate 7.0-inch screen for temperature and vehicle settings. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard, as is a head-up display. Wireless charging is provided, and Lexus claims audiophiles may upgrade the stereo to a 25-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound system—if they have pushed for either the LX Luxury or LX Ultra Luxury trim.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
A package of driver-assistance systems is standard on the LX and includes automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist, however the LX lacks a hands-free highway driving aid system like the Cadillac Escalade's Super Cruise. For additional information about the LX's crash test results, see the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety elements include:
-
Standard automatic emergency braking with pedestrian-and-bicyclist detection
-
Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist
-
Standard adaptive cruise control with a lane-centering function
